Training Academy
Embarking on a career in barbering is a significant step, and choosing the right educational path is crucial. This course is intense, but it’s your fast-tracked way to becoming qualified (to a high standard) in just 3 months.
It’s been designed for creatives with little to no experience, who are ready to break into the men’s grooming industry. This course is about more than learning how to cut and understand hair, it’s setting yourself up for a thriving career.
Duration: 12 weeks
Schedule: Mon–Weds, 10 AM – 5 PM

You’ll have seen courses online with instant ‘buy now’ buttons, where you’re just another number on an over-subscribed course. That’s not our style, we provide a hands-on, personalised training experience and ask that if you’re interested, you reach out directly so we can make sure the programme is the right fit first. Course overview:

On your first day, you’ll be given a Starter Kit, which is yours to keep.
You wouldn’t clean a Ferrari with fairy liquid, and we don’t do things by halves at Max Nicholsons, so rest assured the items will be top quality, from brands such as Jaguar, Y.S Park and WAHL. Your Starter Kit will include:
• Kit Bag
• Scissors
• Combs
• Brushes
• Clips
• Water spray
• Neck brush
• Razors
• Non-electrical styling tools
You’ll have use of two training mannequin heads during your course, and also work on real-life models, which we can arrange. You’ll have use of the salon’s electrical items such as clippers, trimmers, and dryers during your course, but are welcome to bring your own in too for guidance on how to use your specific electrical tools. -
• Core cutting techniques in men’s hairdressing & barbering
• Scissor and clipper work, fading, and blending
• Sectioning, shape building, and styling
• Consultations and communication skills
• Client care, hygiene, and industry professionalism
• Live model practice and real-world salon experience
• One day a week spent shadowing in a working barbershop or salon -
Upon successful completion, you’ll receive a Max Nicholson Training Academy Diploma, certifying your skills and readiness to work professionally in the industry.
